Community Vision Assistive Technology Lab

About

An Education & Resource Center

The Assistive Technology (AT) Lab promotes accessibility and inclusion in our community and around the region by collaborating with people with disabilities, their families, professionals, students, businesses, government, and the public. We want more people to see, access, and feel comfortable with AT.  Visit us in Community Vision’s universally-designed building and find out more!

Trainings & Workshops

The Lab’s primary mission is to increase AT capacity in Oregon and SW Washington. This is through active partnerships with individuals, families, and other organizations (including our AT Collaborators).

Check out the AT Lab website for downloadable information on iPad Basics, Accessibility Settings, Email & Video Chat set-up, and Internet Safety. The page includes an accessibility widget (upper right corner) that modifies the webpage based on different accessibility needs. Some of the content is translated into several languages.

Consultations

If you are interested in more than a general introduction to AT through our Open Lab Hours, our Lab has two certified ATPs (Assistive Technology Professionals) on staff for consultations. One is an Occupational Therapist (OT) and the other is a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).

Open Hours & Loan Closet

Due to COVID-19, Open Lab Hours are closed. Please visit our Virtual Tour here and Contact Us for free AT information. Our Loan Closet is running and our Social Groups are virtual – see below!

The AT Lab is open to the public every Thursday from 12:00-5:00pm. Occasionally, the space may be closed for all-day trainings or holidays. Please call or check our Calendar before planning a visit. If you are unable to come during Open Hours, please Contact Us to schedule a more convenient time for you.

Open Hours offer the public an opportunity to visit and learn more about Assistive Technology and local resources that may exist in your community. A staff member will be available to answer general questions and guide individual and group tours.
