At Outside the Frame, we change the way homeless youth see and are seen by teaching them filmmaking. We are proving that homeless youth are not a liability, they are an asset to our communities. As they make their own films, they gain employable skills, and build the confidence and motivation to embrace and contribute to society.

In 1993, Friends of the Children opened its doors with three friends serving 24 children. Today, Friends of the Children – Portland has 50 Friends guiding, supporting and mentoring almost 500 children across the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area. Founded in 1995, Portland YouthBuilders is a non-profit organization committed to providing long term support for low income youth. Each year, we provide education, vocational training, and leadership development services for over 200 young people between the ages of 17 and 24 who have not completed high school and who face significant barriers to success.
