Soul District Business Association

About

The Soul District Business Association (formerly known as NNEBA) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit that has been promoting and sustaining the economic and business development of inner urban North/Northeast Portland since 1977. We are a voice, advocate, facilitator and catalyst for approximately 5,000 businesses and 58,000 residents within our district boundaries. We are also the lead implementer of the Green Lighting Black Lives Matter Youth Media Project.

Green Lighting Black Lives Matter Youth Media Project

This groundbreaking program is presented by professional Black filmmakers who recruit and train the next generation of youth entrepreneurs, ages 16-26, in the operation and purposeful application of state-of-the-art video technology, film and video production equipment. GLBLM seeks to inspire and empower them to tell their own stories of what it means to grow up Black in Portland, Oregon and then share their unique perspectives with regional, national and international viewing audiences through media outlets, screening events and film festivals. The skills gained in the learning process can then be leveraged to propel students forth into careers in the exploding film, video and tech industries.
